Las variedades más populares también se almenan como pellets de tipo 90. Precintadas en paquetes de aluminio, se utilizan en el proceso de hervido para dar amargor o más tarde, el aroma. Se deben utilizan junto con un sistema de remolinos o de filtrado mejorado.
Nota 1: a medida que el ácido alfa se deteriore, otros compuestos oxidados del interior del lúpulo generarán sabores amargos que lo sustituirán en buena medida, pero se perderán los aceites esenciales (aroma) y el frescor general del lúpulo.
